Roelof Platenkamp is Executive Chairman of Tulip Oil. He retired in March 2010 as a Senior Executive from Royal Dutch Shell Plc after an international career spanning 29 years in a broad range of jobs. Last assignment in Shell as Global Vice President Petroleum Engineering and Development in the EP Corporate Headquarters in Rijswijk, The Hague, The Netherlands.At the same time he was serving as Director of Shell International Exploration and Production BV.
Prior to that he was CEO of the NAM and Commercial Director of Shell EP Europe. In depth technical experience in all aspects of the management of hydrocarbon assets, from exploration through development and operations, including IOR and EOR.
Experience in strategy, financial and commercial activities, business planning, portfolio management, LEAN and 6 Sigma, restructuring and stakeholder management. Experience in oil and gas, off shore and onshore and Underground Gas Storage.
Roelof served in various countries and cultures: UK, USA, Venezuela, Oman, The Netherlands. He holds and MSc degree in Molecular Physics from the University of Wageningen (1976 cum laude), was awarded the Unilever Chemistry Award in 1975 and received a doctorate in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Leiden in 1981.
